Classic Cars
If If you own a Classic Car then you will be interested in many of the events the Hants & Berks MC runs each year.We know the first port of call of many Classic Car owners is the One Make Clubs and most of our members have joined one of these organisations and make full use of the facilities they offer.
What we realised about 15 years ago was that many owners in our part of the UK wanted to use their vehicles on organised events but many of their clubs just did not have events in this part of Britain. In fact we have heard many stories over the years of owners having to travel vast distances just to get to the start location of these events.
Our solution as one of the longest established county Motor Clubs was to put our experience to work and organise local events for the Classic Car owner. This has been so successful over the last decade that now over a third of our membership own Classic Cars and in several cases our existing members have been out and bought a Classic so that they can take part in these events.
Our three flagship events are:-
The Early Bird Classic Car Tour held in May. Starting in the Reading area and following a scenic route of about 100 miles to generally a transport museum or other place of interest where we organise a static display of the participating cars.(Next year, 2nd May, 2010)
The Garden Tour held in June/July. The scenic route for this event is generally about 70 to 80 miles and we finish at a National Trust or similar property with gardens.(Next year 20 June, 2010 - why not enter - just phone Janet Bonney for an entry form)
The Autumn Classic is our last event of the year, held during early October which features about 80 miles of scenic route with the finish again at a transport museum or other place of interest.
These events attract participants from far and wide with regulars from Hertfordshire and Shropshire as well as many from our own area.
We also organise the now firm favourite at Easter each year, the Woodley Classic Car Show, which we have had to expand in recent years to get everyone in. The Show was originally capped at 50 vehicles but in recent years this number has been far exceeded.
The Hants & Berks MC also organise Noggin’ & Natters, evening meetings which are open to anyone who wants to bring along an interesting vehicle.
So plenty is happening on the Classic front.
